Coos County Public Health officials announced this morning that Coos County will enter \u201cLower Risk Guidelines\u201d for state COVID metrics starting Wednesday instead of Friday. Coos Health and Wellness released the latest statistics from Monday that indicated the numbers of active cases had dropped to 31.6 per 100-thousand people. That is well below the 50 per 100-thousand to drop the county from \u201cModerate\u201d to \u201cLower Risk.\u201d Dr. Eric Gleason said COVID-19 has become a preventable disease, adding numbers of COVID cases are dropping along with increasing numbers of vaccinations did what public health officials have thought from the beginning. Gleason advised citizens to continue to seek vaccinations calling COVID the \u201cTale of two Pandemics: Those who have been vaccinated and those who haven\u2019t.\u201d Statistics from the Oregon Health Authority indicated the likelihood of contracting coronavirus is much higher for those who haven\u2019t vaccinated than those who have received a vaccine.
