The Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to an overturned Jeep in the dunes on Saturday at Ten Mile Sand Road. When they arrived, the vehicle was upside down in the water with occupants still in the vehicle. Two of the occupants were able to get out of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the help of several ATV riders who arrived early on the scene. A winch line from a Sheriff’s truck was then attached and the vehicle was pulled out of the water and the third occupant was removed. CPR was administered by First Responders from Hauser Fire and Bay Cities Ambulance. The third occupant 24-year-old Hailey Marie Vincent was pronounced dead on the scene. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
The Coos County Sheriff’s office would like to thank the ATV riders who assisted on the scene with quick action that saved the life of one of the other occupants in the vehicle.
