Telecommunication officials are working this morning to troubleshoot a 911 outage that is affecting Coos and Curry Counties. The Coos Bay Police Department put out a notification of the outage and how to contact the centers for emergencies when lines went down shortly after 1:00 o’clock this morning. Calls to 911 in Coos and Curry Counties are currently being routed to Douglas County. A spokeswoman at the North Coos 911 Center says to reach the Call Centers direct, call the Coos Bay Police at 541-269-8911 and select extension #1 or the Coos County Sheriff’s Office at 541-404-5403. 911 TeleCommunications Supervisor Tessa Cupp also says “Text Direct to 911” still appears to be working. Originally, authorities thought a fiber line had been cut, however, they’ve not been able to make that determination. Ziply Fiber has elevated the service ticket to isolate where the issue is so it can be resolved.
