The City of Coos Bay will close Mingus Park Pool for resurfacing around August 9th. The project includes demolition of the existing pool surfaces and installation of new plaster surface and lane target tile markings. City Councilors questioned staff for the need to close the pool during the nicest weather of the year. The request was made by the operational organizations of the pool after long delays for work getting done.
Meanwhile, the City of North Bend will open the North Bend Municipal Pool on July 1st. The reopening comes after citizens voted in favor of the pool levy to fund the operation. The Coquille City Council also voted to reopen their community pool at their council meeting in April.
