The Coos Bay City Council has appointed Sara Stephens to fill a position currently held by Councilor Phil Marler. Marler resigned because he is moving out of the area. Four applicants had applied for the position. Stephens has lived in Coos Bay for seven years. She currently serves on the Coos Bay Budget Committee. She is also the chair on the United Way of Southwestern Oregon Board and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Coos History Museum.
