Accident East of Reedsport Kills One/Closes Highway

A two-vehicle accident killing one and hospitalizing two occurred near Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area just east of Reedsport on Friday, September 3rd. The investigation revealed a Nissan Pathfinder operated by 50-year-old Robyn Loonam of Eugene was eastbound when it lost control and crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a Toyota 4-Runner. The occupants 32-year-old Joely Jimenez of Bronx, New York was transported to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend by Air Ambulance, and 46-year-old Levi Rodriguez of Redway, California was transported to a local hospital with injuries. According to authorities, the Nissan Pathfinder had several driving complaints prior to the crash. Loonam sustained fatal injuries and Highway 38 was closed for two hours.
