Coos County Sheriff Craig Zanni has confirmed that Highway 42S near Riverton is closed while authorities work an accident scene. A vehicle has reportedly left the roadway and become submerged in the river at around milepost 9. Zanni says a dive team is responding to the scene. There is no indication as to when the highway will reopen. Zanni asks motorists to use an alternate route in the interim. Highway 42S runs between Bandon and Coquille. This is a developing story.
