The Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission announced a big obstacle that has plagued the commercial fishery for nearly seven years has been cleared. The entire Oregon Coast has passed the first round of tests which is the meat fill quality test. Officials expect to hear if the crab will pass the Domoic Acid tests coast-wide. In the past, the test to determine if the naturally occurring Domoic Acid toxin and price have been the main contributors to the delayed start of the season. If all hurdles are cleared, the season could open as early as December 1st. The last time that happened was in 2014.
