A Coos County man was arrested after leading sheriff deputies on a vehicle chase that ended outside of Myrtle Point. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was relayed after a report of a man medical personnel believed was impaired after a request was sent to Bay Cities Ambulance yesterday around 1 PM. Deputies located the man identified as 27-year-old Wyatt R. Morgan at Rooke Higgins boat ramp. According to authorities, Morgan allegedly tried to cut the deputy’s wrist while the deputy attempted to arrest him. While fleeing, Morgan allegedly ran over the deputy’s foot and struck him with the side of the vehicle. The vehicle chase went down North Coos River Highway through a construction zone, continued onto catching slough, and ended after Morgan crashed into a fence at Ferona County Park. He then allegedly fled on foot from officers and was taken into custody after he was tased. Morgan was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail on charges of Second Degree Attempted Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, First Degree Escape, Resisting Arrest, Fail to Carry and Present, False Information to a Police Officer, Menacing, Elude by Vehicle, Elude by Foot, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endanger.
