Local Leaders, Administrators, mental health service providers, and law enforcement staff are scrambling to reorganize following the Bay Area Hospital announcement that it would be shutting down the In-patient Behavioral Health Services within 30 days. The program is critical to managing patients with mental health issues, not just for local agencies, but for most of south coast. Some agencies and municipal administrators say they were blind-sided by yesterday’s announcement. Local areas have seen a rise in situations occurring on the streets since the reduction of beds and closure of state mental health facilities. Law enforcement and community administrators will be meeting to discuss the issue. Waterfall Clinic officials will likely announce an expansion of services later today.
