In light of the tough economy we live in today, including fluctuating gas prices, soaring costs for groceries, and our struggles with COVID, the law office of Juli Upton will again host a holiday giveaway. In the past, you may remember their turkey giveaways at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This year in Coos County, we have the chance to be back together again for holiday dinners with friends and families, but some of us may not have the money to afford a $30 or $40 turkey, or a ham. To give back to the community, Juli, Ethan and myself, along with Wrigley, the office dog, have decided to purchase and give away fifty $100 grocery gift cards at McKay’s Market to cover your families’ Christmas dinner and  McKay’s Market has locations in Coos Bay, Bandon, Lakeside, Myrtle Point and Coquille. McKay’s Market has generously agreed to extend an additional 5 Holiday Meals, so the total giveaway will total fifty-five gift cards.

To enter, please write a letter to “Home For The Holidays” at P.O Box 1254, Coos Bay, OR, 97420. Letters must be received between December 5 to December 15. In that letter, tell us how the current economy has impacted your family and why having Christmas Dinner with your close friends and family would be important to you. Tell us how many members of your family there are, their ages, and how you have been struck by joblessness, illness, or rising grocery prices.

Entering by letter is the only means by which your entry can be considered in the giveaway. Entries are limited to residents of Coos County, Oregon. Gift cards will be delivered in the Coos Bay and North Bend City limits, and winners outside of the city will be notified where to pick up their dinner cards. Gift cards cannot be sold or bartered, and must be signed by the winner for groceries at McKay’s Markets only. Cards may not be used to purchase alcoholic beverages or tobacco products. Again, the address to send your letter entries to is: Home For The Holidays, PO Box 1254, Coos Bay, Oregon 97420.

Happy Holidays, Coos County, and Merry Christmas from the Office of Juli Upton.
