Bandon Traffic Fatality

A Bandon man was killed in a two-vehicle traffic accident yesterday evening. Law Enforcement received a 911 call that an accident had taken place at the intersection of Seven Devils Road and Whiskey Run Lane in Bandon. According to a press release, 21-year-old Evan Melton of Myrtle Point failed to stop his 2012 Volkswagen at the stop sign and collided with the vehicle driven by 65-year-old Michael Rogers of Bandon. Rogers 2004 Volkswagen Jetta sustained extensive damage. Rogers was extricated using the jaws of life and was transported to Bay Area Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Melton and his passenger did not sustain any injuries. Melton was issued a citation for failing to obey a traffic control device. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Bandon Fire Department, Bandon Police Department, and Bay Cities Ambulance.
