Bay Area Hospital Restricts Visitors in Emergency and IMCU Departments

Bay Area Hospital has made an immediate change to its visitor policy citing the increasing number of positive COVID-19 cases in Coos County. The Emergency Department and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) are not allowing visitors at this time. If the patient is under 18 years of age, one parent or legal guardian is allowed. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is allowing one designated visitor per patient stay. Patients will be able to designate a single support person who will be allowed access to the unit only with the presentation of a hospital-issued wristband. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances. Hospital officials say they are aware additional visitation restrictions are disruptive to family connections. They asked for the community’s patience, understanding, and support.
