Bi-Mart announced today that the company has entered into an agreement with Walgreens to acquire the pharmacy business. This includes patient prescription files and related pharmacy inventory of 56 pharmacies across Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. That includes local pharmacies in Coos Bay and North Bend. Select areas where Walgreens does not have a nearby store will be operated inside Bi-Mart under the Walgreens brand. Current pharmacy customer files will be transferred by January of next year. Pharmacy employees will also have the opportunity to apply for available positions at Walgreens. Both Bi-Mart and Walgreens are working together for a smooth transition. Once they begin the transfers, patients will be notified by mail and will have access to Walgreens Pharmacy services.
