BOEM Seeks Public Comment for Offshore Wind Project

Two Sites west of Coos Bay and Brookings have been proposed for an Offshore Wind Energy Project. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has now issued a “Call for Information” (COI) to the public. The two areas are 13.8 miles offshore of Charleston and Brookings. Though those locations have been listed as possibilities the COI’s are soliciting the public’s comments regarding the potential locations the wind energy leasing. BOEM director Amanda Lefton says the COI’s are important to identify potential areas that may be suitable for offshore wind energy leasing. The COI will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 29th however each call will initiate a separate comment period.
