The retired 162-acre lumber mill, Georgia Pacific West, LLC was purchased by Commercial Development Company, Inc (CDC). CDC’s purchase includes real estate, machinery and equipment, and assumptions of environmental liabilities. Officials with CDC say the purchase of the Coos Bay Lumber Mill was done to repurpose the property and move it back to productive use. They also said the property has potential for international shipping operations because it has two rail spurs as well as two onsite docks. CDC will perform demolition and liquidate the surplus of equipment as well as remediate environmental issues and prepare the site for redevelopment. South Coast Development Council assisted the Commercial Development Company by connecting them with local resources and more. Executive Director Shaun Gibbs says they anticipate a large volume of projects will be attracted to the site for its assets. Commercial Development Company, Inc. (CDC) is a privately-held, diversified real estate acquisition and development firm. The liquidation process will be managed by the Industrial Asset Recovery Group. Those interested in the liquidation process can contact Stuart Millner at 314-835-2812.
