Coos County Commissioners have written a letter to Governor Kate Brown opposing the latest COVID mandates for the upcoming school year. In the letter signed by all three commissioners, they called it a one-size-fits-all approach to public health. Commissioners said decisions should be made at the local level taking into consideration local issues and constraints. They also reminded the Governor she had assured them all future COVID-19 restriction decisions would be made at the local level. Commissioners asked the mask mandate decision to be reconsidered saying decisions on public health are best made at the local level by the Board of Health where needs for the community are considered. The letter was dated August 1st.
