The state is preparing to open after 15 months of COVID-19 restrictions and the news has relieved many members of the community, including officials with Coos Health and Wellness. Doctor Eric Gleason says while the state is expected to hit 70% of fully vaccinated individuals in the coming few days, Coos County lags a little behind. Gleason encourages people to continue to seek vaccination because of the vulnerability of individuals who can’t or are too young. COVID Variants continue to be the ongoing threat, mostly among those who are not vaccinated, because they are much more contagious. Gleason says COVID-19 is a preventable disease adding infection does not have to happen but it will. Vaccination clinics will continue throughout the county for those who haven’t yet received the vaccine.
