Coos County Commissioners have just received notice from public health officials that the county will move to “moderate” in the state COVID risk metrics starting Friday. After spending 12 weeks at “Extreme”, the county moved to “High” two weeks ago. The county has continued to see lower COVID infections through daily reporting. Today, active cases increased five since the end of the month on Friday. There were no new hospitalizations or deaths.
With the reduction in risk metrics, eating establishments will be able to increase the number of patrons allowed inside at one time from 25% to now 50%. Indoor recreation capacity will also increase to a maximum of 50% occupancy or 100 people total whichever is smaller and indoor full-contact sports are allowed. Outdoor full-contact sports are allowed. Retail stores can also increase occupancy to 75%. Commissioner Melissa Cribbins says she appreciates everyone doing their part to keep small businesses open.
