Food Carts, Front Street and Homelessness Surveys, Oh My!

Three Coos County Cities are looking for input from citizens on separate issues that could have a significant impact on their respective communities. The City of Coos Bay is looking for community feedback for design concepts for Front Street. The information is being collected prior to the November 9th Planning Commission Meeting. The project will build on the Front Street Action Plan from 2017 and the 2020 Transportation System Plan to keep Coos Bay’s Front Street a viable connection to the waterfront and Highway 101. To take the survey and see the design options, visit CoosBayFrontStreetBlueprint.org. The city of North Bend has also distributed a survey regarding homelessness and transient camping on public property within the city. Recent case law and the new law in Oregon make it lawful for persons experiencing homelessness to sleep on any public property that is open to the public at all hours of the day unless the local governing body enacts reasonable restrictions related to time, place, and manner. can take the survey by clicking here. The City of Bandon is seeking input as to whether and under what conditions it should allow mobile food vending. The city currently allows Food Carts under special permits.
