Two of the top leads at the North Bend Police Department suddenly announced their departure from the department this afternoon. North Bend Police Chief, Robert Kappelman, made his announcement through a post on the North Bend Police Department’s Facebook Page. Captain Curt Bennett sent a letter through his attorney. Both noted their retirements effective today. Bennett noted in a press release that his decision to retire was difficult and that he was privileged to serve with the North Bend Police Department for the last 29 years. Kappelman has served communities in law enforcement for the last 29 years and he intends to give his time to family.
