Coos County has reported two new deaths over the weekend from COVID-19. The deaths are a 77- and 82-year-old male with underlying health conditions. There are currently 329 active cases in the county. The total active and presumptive cases are up 37 since Friday. There are currently 15 county residents hospitalized for COVID. The two latest deaths bring the total COVID deaths to 118 in Coos County. To date, 5287 cases have been confirmed in the county. The Omicron variant has been confirmed in Lane County. Coos Health and Wellness officials say it is unknown if any of the current Coos County active cases are the Omicron variant. That will be determined at the state level by sequencing.
