Victim of Car Hit and Run Dies

A Coos Bay Man died this afternoon following a hit and run that reportedly took place at the Pony Village Mall on Tuesday. Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier says 41-year-old Kyle Alan Hagquist died at 1:15 pm as a result of the injuries he sustained in the incident. Frasier has updated charges against 31-year-old Kelsey Jean Culver to 2nd Degree Murder and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver to Injured Persons. Culver is scheduled to appear tomorrow in Coos County Circuit Court before Judge Martin Stone. The incident was reported around 5:30 pm on the 22nd. North Bend Police were called to the Pony Village Parking lot via 911. Other calls from witnesses reported the SUV Culver was reportedly driving was moving in a reckless manner. The vehicle was found crashed after sideswiping a vehicle in Bunker Hill south of Coos Bay. Culver was taken into custody at the scene. Hagquist was taken to the hospital and later life-flighted to Eugene where he succumbed to his injuries.
