*** FREEZE WARNING FROM 1 AM TO 9 AM SATURDAY ***
*** HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON ***
For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures are between 28 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
For the High Wind Watch, south winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph possible.
*** WHERE:
For the Freeze Warning, Reedsport, Lakeside, North Bend, Coos Bay, and Bandon, as well as some outlying areas along and near the coast in Coos and Curry counties.
For the High Wind Watch: South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast, including Brookings, Gold Beach, Port Orford, Bandon, and portions of US 101. Very strong winds are possible along headlands, capes, and other exposed areas.
For the Freeze Warning, from 1 AM to 9 AM PST Saturday. For the High Wind Watch, from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.
*** IMPACTS:
– Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
– Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
*** PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation. Dangerous driving conditions are possible, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Downed trees and power lines are possible. Fasten loose. objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
